JNVs
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. They were established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education (formerly Ministry of Human Resource Development). JNVs aim to provide quality education to talented children predominantly from rural areas, regardless of their socio-economic background. The selection process for admission to JNVs is based on a national level entrance examination conducted by the respective State governments. These schools follow the CBSE curriculum and are residential in nature, providing free education, boarding, and lodging to students. JNVs have been instrumental in promoting equity in education by offering opportunities to meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Marquee scrollamount JNVs are transformation of NVS and now this get upgraded to PM SHRI School (Prime Minister's Schools for Rising India).
The PM SHRI schools will be developed as Green schools, incorporating environment friendly aspects like solar panels and LED lights, nutrition gardens with natural farming, waste management, plastic free, water conservation and harvesting, study of traditions/practices related to protection of environment, climate change related hackathon and awareness generation to adopt sustainable lifestyle.
